Charles Schwab YieldPlus Fund

Charles Schwab’s YieldPlus Fund, once Charles Schwab’s leading bond fund, was marketed to investors as a safe alternative to cash.  However, one of this fund’s strategies was to invest in mortgage-backed securities, which in the end consisted of half of the fund’s assets.  These risky investments created huge losses for the investors of this fund.  Currently, Charles Schwab has taken out the YieldPlus Fund from their portfolios.
